Kalshi vs Polymarket vs Limitless: Prediction Markets Compared
Three names, four product routes. Compare eligibility, fees and the way money moves before deciding which market fits.
By OptiHax Research Desk · Initial source review: 23 October 2026 · Selected fee/access sources rechecked: 24 October 2026 · No funded trading or withdrawal tests completed for this comparison
Our verdict: Eligible US readers can compare Kalshi with the separate Polymarket US product. International Polymarket is a distinct on-chain route; Limitless is the Base/USDC route examined here. Neither international Polymarket nor Limitless should be assumed available for US trading. These are conditional product-fit judgments, not a ranking of safety, profits or execution quality.
A familiar market question can sit inside very different products. One balance is held in a USD account; another uses a blockchain collateral token. One fee changes by market category; another changes by trading venue. Even the same brand name can lead to separate accounts, rules and customer support.
This comparison puts eligibility first, then funding, contract rules and trading cost. We reviewed official documentation rather than making accounts or placing trades. A position can lose the entire entry cost, including fees. No platform earns first place because it has an affiliate relationship with OptiHax.

| Product | Documented money route | Trading access | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kalshi | USD account; bank/card and other funding methods, with regional differences | Identity-verified access from eligible countries; numerous country exclusions | A regulated exchange account does not remove contract restrictions, funding holds or market-specific fees. |
| Polymarket international | On-chain product; current docs identify pUSD on Polygon backed by USDC | Country and regional controls; some locations are close-only rather than open for new trades | Check collateral, market category fees and resolution source; do not apply the US product’s rules. |
| Polymarket US | Separate USD trading product; fiat funding and some crypto funding routes | Designed for US residents, subject to verification and applicable eligibility restrictions | Separate accounts and fee schedule. US residence alone is not a complete eligibility check. |
| Limitless Exchange | USDC in supported wallets on Base | Terms prohibit US trading and name other restricted jurisdictions | Fees and resolution vary across venues and market types; wallet access is not guaranteed trading eligibility. |
Basis: Kalshi access/agreement, funding, Polymarket product distinction, pUSD, US product, Limitless terms and wallets. Table order is not a score.
Can you actually open a position?
Kalshi is not US-only, and it is not globally open. Its help center says eligible users in many countries can apply. The Member Agreement currently served excludes event-contract trading for people domiciled, organized or located in specified jurisdictions, including the UK, Canada, Australia and France. It distinguishes trading permission from membership or browsing. Review the complete agreement for your circumstances. Access guide · Member Agreement.
Polymarket international has more than an allowed/blocked switch. Its current geographic policy distinguishes complete blocks from close-only access. The US, UK, Australia and France are among locations listed as close-only on both the frontend and API: existing positions can be closed, but new ones cannot be opened. That is not an invitation for a new user to trade there. Other regions and sanctions restrictions apply. Current geographic policy.
Polymarket US is a separate route. The official US guide calls it a USD product built for US residents. The CFTC lists QCX LLC d/b/a Polymarket US as a designated contract market; Kalshi also has that designation. Neither designation proves every product is available to every person or state. We have not established a complete state-by-state eligibility table. Confirm current app, participant-agreement and market rules for your location. US product guide · CFTC register.
Limitless Exchange’s terms prohibit trading by US users. They also name the jurisdiction written as “Republic of China”, Ontario and Alberta, with a separate access-block list. We preserve that wording rather than reinterpret it. The terms set an adult-age requirement and permit identity or eligibility checks. A compatible wallet does not mean anonymous or unrestricted use. Current terms.
This is a dated summary of platform policies, not a legal determination or a full country list. Being absent from one example list does not establish permission. Do not bypass restrictions.
Who each platform suits—and where it falls short
Kalshi
Consider it if: you are eligible and want to compare event contracts through an identified exchange account with USD funding options.
Tradeoff: international payment routes differ. Verification, market rules and transfer holds still matter; resting maker fills are not universally free.
Evidence limit: we did not test onboarding, fill quality, support or withdrawal speed.
Polymarket
International: consider the on-chain product if eligible and comfortable checking its collateral and market rules.
US: compare the separate USD product with Kalshi if eligible. International fees and resolution do not describe US accounts.
Tradeoff: two products mean two sets of account, funding, fee and settlement assumptions.
Limitless
Consider it if: you are eligible and specifically want a documented Base/USDC market and wallet route.
Tradeoff: standard AMMs, legacy order books, new venues and custom pools do not share one fee rule or one resolver.
Evidence limit: No funded trading or withdrawal tests were performed for this comparison. Read the Limitless review.
These categories are editorial judgments based on documented product differences. They do not establish the deepest liquidity, the cheapest order, a better forecast or a safer place for your funds. The best fit can change when the actual event contract, country or payment method changes.
Crypto vs fiat: follow the balance, not the deposit button
Kalshi’s transfer guide lists bank, card and alternative payment routes. For international accounts it lists debit card, crypto and wire deposits, with debit and crypto withdrawals; ACH, PayPal and Venmo are unavailable internationally. A crypto deposit does not turn the resulting event-contract account into a self-custodied on-chain market. Transfers FAQ.
Polymarket international’s current technical documentation names pUSD, an ERC-20 collateral token on Polygon backed by USDC. The supported deposit route and the trading collateral are different details. Use the current funding interface for the exact asset and network, rather than sending a similarly named token because an older guide says “USDC”. This comparison does not test the backing or peg. Current collateral documentation.
Polymarket US trades in USD. Its funding guide lists card, ACH, Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo, wire and USDC on iPhone where available. Deposits may receive buying power before clearing; that does not make them immediately withdrawable. KYC is required before deposits or trading. US funding · US verification.
Limitless documents USDC held through external, embedded or smart wallets on Base. External-wallet transfers and an in-app smart-wallet withdrawal are different processes. Its wallet guide describes sponsored gas for smart-wallet flows; that is not a promise that every funding route or wallet transfer is free. Wallet types and transfers.
Which has the lowest fees?
There is no substantiated universal fee winner. A schedule’s coefficient is not the percentage of your stake you necessarily pay. Price, order type, market category, venue, discounts, rounding and the exit route affect the result. Compare the spread and available depth as well as the fee.
Kalshi: the official event-contract PDF we retrieved is effective 7 July 2026. Its general taker formula is M × 0.07 × C × p × (1 − p), subject to its rounding rules, with default multiplier M = 1. Non-standard series and maker multipliers matter. Its dynamic frontend did not expose the schedule in this research tool; verify the latest market-specific fee before trading. Official PDF · Fee guidance.
Polymarket international: published taker fees use C × rate × p × (1 − p). The current table lists 0.07 for crypto, 0.05 for sports and several other categories, 0.04 for finance/politics/mentions/tech, and zero for geopolitics. Makers are not charged trading fees. Combos have separate treatment. International fees.
Polymarket US: its separate schedule is effective 19 October 2026. Standard taker fees use coefficient 0.0695 in the same price-uncertainty shape; table tennis and combos differ. Rounding and rebate tiers also differ. Do not import the international product’s fee-free categories. US fees.
Limitless: standard new fee-enabled venues charge 5% × (1 − p) of USDC trade value to takers. Legacy order books instead use price-dependent buy/sell curves; AMMs and custom pools have their own rules. Resting order-book maker fills are fee-free. Fee models · New-venue calculation.
Hypothetical fee comparison: 100 contracts at 0.50
Assume one complete taker buy of 100 ordinary binary contracts/shares at the same 0.50 price, under the schedule named below, with no discounts, rebates, slippage or other costs. This is formula arithmetic, not an observed common event, live quote or order. USD and the on-chain dollar-denominated units are shown at an assumed 1:1 dollar value for illustration; that is not a guarantee of stablecoin value.

| Assumed schedule | Entry fee | Gross entry + fee |
|---|---|---|
| Kalshi general taker, M = 1 | $1.75 | $51.75 |
| Polymarket international crypto | 1.75 in published USDC fee units | 51.75 dollar-equivalent |
| Polymarket international sports | 1.25 in published USDC fee units | 51.25 dollar-equivalent |
| Polymarket international geopolitics | 0.00 | 50.00 dollar-equivalent |
| Polymarket US standard taker | $1.74 after published rounding | $51.74 |
| Limitless standard new fee-enabled venue | 1.25 USDC | 51.25 USDC |
C = 100, p = 0.50. Kalshi: 0.07 × 100 × 0.50 × 0.50 = 1.75, matching its published table. International Polymarket: substitute category rate. Polymarket US: 0.0695 × 100 × 0.50 × 0.50 = 1.7375 → 1.74. Limitless: 50 × 0.05 × 0.50 = 1.25. Funding, network, withdrawal, FX and later-sale costs excluded. Actual fees can differ by market and time. Sources: the four official fee links above.
This is a cost table, not a minimum-balance guide. Limitless’s standard new-venue buy check reserves 5% of the order value for fees: 52.50 USDC for a 50.00 USDC order, even though the modeled fee charged here is 1.25 USDC. The reserved amount can exceed the eventual fee.
A winning ordinary 100-contract position pays 100 before subtracting entry and other costs; that is not 100 profit. A losing position returns zero, so the full modeled entry cost can be lost. A sale before settlement can add another fee and depend on an available counterparty. In this illustration Limitless’s fee equals one international Polymarket category and exceeds a fee-free category: it proves why a blanket “cheapest” claim would be unreliable.

Who decides the result—and when does money return?
On Kalshi, its markets team finalizes an outcome using the contract’s official source and rules; winning payouts then enter the cash balance. The displayed close time can differ from determination time. We did not time settlement or a withdrawal. Market FAQs.
On Polymarket international, current docs describe UMA resolution for prediction markets and Chainlink time-weighted average prices for up/down markets. UMA includes proposal and challenge steps; a disputed result can take longer. Read the specific market’s source and exceptional-outcome rules rather than assuming one oracle flow covers everything. Resolution guide.
On Polymarket US, Polymarket Clearing processes settlement after the outcome is finalized and updates the portfolio. Ordinary contracts settle at $1/$0; some contracts have alternative settlement terms. This is separate from the international UMA process. US settlement.
On Limitless, resolution sources vary: documented examples include Pyth, Chainlink TWAP, sports providers, external-venue parity, manual review and creators for custom markets. Ordinary winning shares redeem for 1 USDC; permitted 50-50 cases pay 0.50 per share. A resolved label can precede on-chain redemption readiness. Resolution guide.
Sale, settlement and withdrawal are three different steps. A sale needs an execution price and buyer. Settlement applies the market result. Withdrawal or wallet transfer moves available funds elsewhere and may involve holds, network costs or other conditions. None of those stages is verified by a public market screenshot.

Funding cost + execution price + entry fee. Check whether available balance must also cover a reserve.
Hold or sell
Changing prices, spread and depth affect a possible early exit. A quoted price does not guarantee a full fill.

A practical way to choose
- Eliminate ineligible routes. Check residence, location, age, identity and product-specific restrictions.
- Compare the same question. Match the threshold, deadline, official source and tie/cancellation treatment. Similar titles can describe different contracts.
- Inspect an order of your intended size. A headline percentage is not a guaranteed fill. Record the bid, ask, available depth and fee in the actual product.
- Trace the money out. Compare your funding route, possible clearing holds, sale/claim process and withdrawal destination.
- Choose a fit only after those checks. The conditional categories above are a starting shortlist, not a recommendation to place a trade.
Questions this comparison can answer
Is Polymarket available in the US?
The international product does not permit US users to open new positions. Polymarket US is a separate USD product built for US residents, with its own verification and applicable access rules. Do not treat the two names as interchangeable.
Is Limitless the best of the three?
It is the Base/USDC route in this comparison. No funded tests were completed for this comparison, and no matched-event execution evidence establishes any platform as best overall. Eligible users can assess it against their own market, cost and wallet requirements.
Can I use these without crypto?
Kalshi and Polymarket US document fiat funding routes, subject to account and country rules. International Polymarket and Limitless use blockchain collateral. A fiat payment option, if offered by an intermediary, does not remove the underlying product’s collateral and eligibility conditions.
Which is safest or has the best liquidity?
This research does not establish either superlative. Regulatory designation, on-chain custody and a large public market are different facts. None is proof that an individual order will execute well or that a position cannot lose.
How we compared—and what we did not test
This is an unranked research comparison, not a “best prediction markets” list. Our published policy requires qualifying completed reviews before comparative rankings. Three brands and public documentation do not satisfy that gate. Table order is organisational; the product-fit cards are questions to investigate, not recommendation badges. Review methodology · Commercial and ranking policy.
We checked public official agreements, help pages, fee schedules and the CFTC register on 23 October 2026. Eligibility is a gate, not a weighted score. The fit judgments follow funding/collateral, contract rules and documented costs. We did not create accounts, verify identities, deposit funds, place orders, contact support or test withdrawals.
We did not collect simultaneous executable quotes for an equivalent event across all products. Therefore the arithmetic table cannot rank real execution costs or liquidity. Current market depth, actual customer fees, transfer timing and service quality remain unmeasured. The Limitless public captures are dated observations and do not extend to the other products.
No universal winner, invented score or tested badge is assigned. No affiliate partnership is assumed from an email or placement preference. This comparison links to our detailed Limitless review, which contains disclosed affiliate links. That commercial relationship does not determine the comparison criteria or establish a tested recommendation.
